I have only recently 'discovered' this family, having just obtained my G Grandfather, Alfred T Parker's Will, naming them as the inheritors of his estate.

Quite a suprise, as I knew nothing of them.

The Will states that Florence (see below) is his neice, on further research I have found that Florence is actually related to Alfred's wife, who was a Russell (Dorset).

Frank Parr and his wife Florence Beatrice Russell Woolvin, both born Millbrook, Sth Stoneham, 1882 and married 1908, in Sth Stoneham (Southampton).

In the 1920's, Frank ran a boarding house at 18 Blechynden Terrace, Southampton and Florence ran 'The Temperance Hotel' next door.

So far I have been able to establish that the Parr family originated in Devon.....research is on going, so I'd love to hear from anyone who may have a connection.

Kaye.

I advise you to write to all the names at the address given on the will, a survivor may still be living there and have vital information regarding your family.

do not for get a stamped addressed envelope it does not guarantee a reply but it helps
I hope your Quest is not to long

Hi Len,

Many thanks for your advice.

At present I'm trying to establish whether the two properties survived the war, or for that matter weren't demolished at a later date.....I've been Googling away like mad here.

I have managed to find some old photographs of Blechynden Station and a couple of references to the actual Temperence Hotel's address (only) circa 1890's...next step are maps.

I'm also going to apply your advice to the residents of my Granfather's old home in Shadoxhurst, Kent on the off chance of maybe getting some information from the title deeds......as they say nothing to lose, but everything to gain !

Thanks again,

Regards,

Kaye.
