    Old Pictures

    Hello all!!!

I have been trying to find old pictures of Hood Street which was probably demolished anytime between 1905 and 1940, I would love to see where my ancestors used to live, but have had no success. I asked in the History Fair but they didn't know Hood Street until I mentioned it was near Copenhagen Street and they said it was demolished in the slum clearance [which I knew] and that was all the information they had.

Perhaps someone will know of any books which would have pictures or any documents I could ask to see in the History Centre, by the way has the new library been built with the History Centre yet?

Any help would be gratefully received.

    Thank you

    Chez

    Hi Chez

I've had a quick look in some of my old books about Worcester but with no luck ... not even a mention of Hood Street. Will keep my eyes open and if I come across anything will let you know.

I've sent you an email about the problems with logging in. Sorry for the delay but vodafone have been having a few problems with their mobile internet connections for the past few weeks which has caused me no end of problems with the sites and email. Hopefully they have now got it fixed.

    Hello Sally,

    Nice to hear from you.

There doesn't seem to be any reference anywhere about the cottages in Hood Street, theres a lot mentioned about Copenhagen street and Quay Street but Hood Street seems to have been left out. I'm wondering if they were worker cottages for glovers as there used to be a glove factory near by there, and my ancestor was a gloveress.

I can log in ok now.

    thanks,
    Chez
